Throwing Beautiful Memories Away Hurts
Many moons ago, I met a man that changed my life permanently. He is the sort of man that knows things– in particular, he knows many things about wine. Over the years, he introduced me to long, lingering meals with convivial roots, exquisite food and truly beautiful wine.
One year this man had a birthday and I took it upon myself to find the perfect gift. As I considered my options, I remembered the gut wrenching feeling I felt every time we would throw away a delicious bottle of wine we finished together. As a creative director, my need to solve two problems with one solution kicked into gear and I began sketching ideas for the original Nest design.
As I remembered wonderful date nights, vineyard trips with friends, lazy weekends at home... I flipped through my photos and noticed an interesting trend– I always took photos of wine bottles! These are a few examples of bottles that made their way into my photo album, in hopes of claiming space in our future memories!
It was as if I couldn't bear the idea that we would simply forget the gorgeous bottles we drank together and somehow our memories might be lost forever... I wanted to remember everything, but how?
The wine Nest idea was born and the search for a manufacturing partner began.
Meet the artisan behind every Nest– David Brown.
David Brown is a third-generation woodworker who specializes in unique, custom made furniture that emphasizes and respects the natural beauty of his material. He started woodworking in 2014 and made the intimidating leap to full-time in 2018. He has now been a furniture builder, designer, and all around craftsperson for over 10 years with the desire to keep learning and expanding his skills for years to come.
I knew straightaway that David was the partner for my project! Together we worked to bring the Nest idea to life. David's attention to detail, superb craftsmanship and passion for the Nest design make our creative partnership a perfect fit.
